Office Quality Filing Cabinet

I spent a long time looking at a wide variety of filing cabinets online. Unless you want to spend quite a bit of money, you're not going to get a solid wood filing cabinet. With that in mind, I knew I had only a few options: some kind of laminate product, plastic, or this. The laminates are almost always garbage, and you have to assemble them yourself, which means the end product is not that sturdy. This filing cabinet is metal and comes assembled. It is rugged! It certainly has an office-ish look to it, but I don't mind at all. The drawers are full depth, glide smoothly, and it doesn't wobble. For the price, I don't think you can do much better!

Pretty good

My order arrived the next day after ordering from [...] through Amazon. Was amazed on the speed of shipping. For the most part I am very satisfied with the product. Construction is sturdy. Locking mechanisms function great. The cabinet looks good/clean. Packaging was good. My only gripe is that despite the file cabinet being a HON, which from what I hear is a highly reputable manufacturer; the bottom drawer is slightly skewed, which leaves maybe a 1/4" gap on the right side. It is for the most part only cosmetic though because it hardly seems to affect drawer function, if at all. The defect is a construction defect though. The cabinet does not seem to be damaged. All-in-all for the [...] I paid (fyi, not sure why the price just shot up..), I would say I'm content with the purchase.

Disappointing Quality Control

I have purchased and used a lot of HON file cabinets both vertical and horizontal and considered them top of the line file cabinets. December 31, 2009 I ordered a new cabinet to be used in my home. I shopped around and the Amazon price of $191.58 with free delivery was great.

However, when the file cabinet was delivered, I inspected it and was disappointed with the quality control. A seam on top is open rather than closed the way it would typically be. When I opened a drawer, a spring was laying on the bottom of the drawer and at this point I don't know where it belongs. Hopefully, it is an extra spring an employee dropped during assembly.

The drawers open and close and latch shut just fine. There are no complaints from a functional standpoint.

This is when you wish this was an item that could easily be sent back. Since this is not the case, I am going to keep this file cabinet but am disappointed with the quality control. This cabinet is not up to the standards I expect of HON cabinets.

Perfect home office 2-dwr locking cabinet!

I bought this to be a companion to the one exactly like it that I already have. Why? because I have growing paperwork files need and the one I have has worked flawlessly for over 8 years that I saw no need to search out another type or brand! Very good product for the money; couldn't ask for more.
